Puerto Peñasco, Mexico

7/25/2019

I've been going to Puerto Peñasco (often called by its English name "Rocky Point") since I was a little kid.
I have always appreciated the vast cultural differences that are only about 60 miles south from the US Border.

It is a beautiful town full of hard working, generous people, amazing food, and wonderful music.
The water (as a kid I called it "the ocean" but it's really the Sea of Cortez) is often warm and the beaches have wonderful tide pool areas and the perfect size waves for a floating inner tube.

Sadly, like many places, Rocky Point has its struggles. It is wise to check whether or not it is currently safe for foreign visitors to go there before you make the trek to the northeastern coast of the Sea of Cortez.
Still, when I'm away from it for too long, I long for the peace of those warm beautiful waves.
